YOUTHinASIA will go out to high schools, recreation centers and any youth organization to seek out local break dancing youth crews with a focus on Canadians of Asian descent between the ages of 10 and 17.

The objectives are to seek out dance talent in the city and to provide a platform to show off their dance moves. Given the popularity and timeliness of this dance form, the exhibition/competition on May 16th is expected to draw the participation of 20-30 dance crews from all over the province and an audience of about 500 youth. The competition begins with preliminaries in the midafternoon and the top crews compete in a final round that same evening.

An internationally renowned dance crew from California, The Quest Crew, who won America’s Best Dance Crew this year, will cap the May 16th event with an exhibition performance. This event is an opportunity to reach out to youth in an anti drug and alcohol campaign of supporting dance and the arts. We would like to make this a yearly competition and young dance crews can focus on rehearsing and devoting their energies into this dance contest.
