OUTSTANDING ASIAN CALGARIAN 2012

The Asian Heritage Foundation seeks nominations of Outstanding Asian Calgarians, who will be honoured at an awards ceremony at the ImaginAsia Wrap-Up Banquet on May 26, 2012, as part of the 2012 Asian Heritage Month events. Asian Calgarians are asked to look to their neighbours, colleagues, community leaders and local businesses for those who qualify for nomination.

Individuals may be nominated in one of 5 categories – Arts _ Culture, Community Service _ Leadership, Ambassador of Asian Culture, and Emerging Leader and Business Leader. Nominees should be descendants of one of any of the many Asian cultures that make up the pan-Asian population in Calgary, and should, through their actions, inspire all Calgarians.

ARTS _ CULTURE:
Nominations in this field should be for an Asian Calgarian individual who has made outstanding contributions in the areas of music, visual arts, literature/poetry, architecture, design, theatre or dance.

COMMUNITY SERVICE / LEADERSHIP:
Nominations in this field should be for an Asian Calgarian individual who has made an outstanding contribution to their community as a founder, employee, volunteer or donor of a non-profit charitable organization or other community service organization.

AMBASSADOR OF ASIAN CULTURE:
Nominations in this field should be for an Asian Calgarian individual who has helped to promote Asian culture and activities in Calgary in a positive way.

EMERGING LEADER:
Nominations in this field should be for an Asian Calgarian under the age of 25 who has demonstrated leadership in his/her community and has contributed to the promotion of Asian culture and/or heritage in Calgary.

BUSINESS LEADER;
Nominations in this field should be for an Asian Calgarian who has made an
outstanding contribution the life of their community, city or country through business activities and/or professional achievements.

All nominations must include a nomination form, a 300 – 500 word statement outlining the reason for the nomination and must make direct reference to the nature in which the nominee has made a significant contribution in the appropriate category. Nominations must also include a resume or biography of the nominee, a minimum of 2 brief letters of support for the nomination and any other documentation (limited to a maximum of 4 pages) deemed useful in assessing the qualifications of the nominee.

Nominations must be submitted to the Asian Heritage Foundation no later than May 10, 2012 at 5:00pm. A selection committee will review all nominations and one or more individuals will be chosen to be honoured at the banquet on May 26/12.
